There’s Bubble Gum In My…
Ice cream? Yup! Breyer’s says of their new limited edition Bubble Yum flavored ice cream - “it’s sure to be a kids favorite.”
The new flavor was first brought to my attention thanks to Cate over at Sweetnicks and her devotion to ice cream research. I have to tell ya, nothing says “kids” to me more than pastel colored ice cream with something funky mixed into it. So I would say this new Breyer’s flavor is perfect for kids.
I was definitely a bubble gum chewer as a kid, I was picky with my flavors though sticking to original or watermelon. For some reason bubble gum mixed in with my ice cream never seemed appealing, nor does it now. It doesn’t turn me off, and I wouldn’t turn it down if someone offered it to me. But would I buy it for myself? Nope, I doubt it. Trying to chew bubble gum while eating bubble gum flavored ice cream, it just seems like too much work for me.
What’s your take on Breyer’s new Bubble Yum ice cream?

I am a big fan of Breyer’s ice cream, but mostly for the fact that their ingredients are so minimal and pure, making their product taste so clean and good. Like, their vanilla has about 4 ingredients: milk, cream, sugar, vanilla. So now that they have all these crazy new flavors, that purity has pretty much gone out the window.
But about the Bubble Yum: I’m a big fan of bubble gum in general, as well as ice cream. The two, however, have no real business co-existing in one dessert. When I worked at Baskin Robbins in high school, bubble gum was a HUGE hit with the under-10 set, and a HUGE bummer for the employees. See, the kids would spit out all the bubble gum pieces into a napkin, saving them for “later”. And many of those expectorated pieces would inevitably end up on the floor for us to clean/scrape off. In a word: GRODY
