There’s Bubble Gum In My…

Ice cream? Yup! Breyer’s says of their new limited edition Bubble Yum flavored ice cream - “it’s sure to be a kids favorite.”

The new flavor was first brought to my attention thanks to Cate over at Sweetnicks and her devotion to ice cream research. I have to tell ya, nothing says “kids” to me more than pastel colored ice cream with something funky mixed into it. So I would say this new Breyer’s flavor is perfect for kids.

I was definitely a bubble gum chewer as a kid, I was picky with my flavors though sticking to original or watermelon. For some reason bubble gum mixed in with my ice cream never seemed appealing, nor does it now. It doesn’t turn me off, and I wouldn’t turn it down if someone offered it to me. But would I buy it for myself? Nope, I doubt it. Trying to chew bubble gum while eating bubble gum flavored ice cream, it just seems like too much work for me.

What’s your take on Breyer’s new Bubble Yum ice cream?

I am a big fan of Breyer’s ice cream, but mostly for the fact that their ingredients are so minimal and pure, making their product taste so clean and good. Like, their vanilla has about 4 ingredients: milk, cream, sugar, vanilla. So now that they have all these crazy new flavors, that purity has pretty much gone out the window.
But about the Bubble Yum: I’m a big fan of bubble gum in general, as well as ice cream. The two, however, have no real business co-existing in one dessert. When I worked at Baskin Robbins in high school, bubble gum was a HUGE hit with the under-10 set, and a HUGE bummer for the employees. See, the kids would spit out all the bubble gum pieces into a napkin, saving them for “later”. And many of those expectorated pieces would inevitably end up on the floor for us to clean/scrape off. In a word: GRODY

All I have to say Joanna is - eww! I can imagine how gross that could have been for you guys having to clean up.

I am imagining that the breyer’s bubble yum ice cream much like the Baskin Robins flavor will appeal mostly to the under 10 y/o crowd. As I said in the article I’ve never tried bubble gum flavored ice cream and can’t exactly imagine eating ice cream - something milk based - that tastes like bubble gum. Interesting..

when I was a kid, I always went for the bubble gum ice cream. I just couldn’t resist the joy of ice cream combined with the lingering goodness of gum. But as an adult, I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. But I’m sure I’ll try it at some point.

i love gum! i love bubble yum! i love ice cream! but don’t expect me to reach out for bubble gum ice cream anytime in the future. never liked bubble gum-flavored anything, especially ice cream. and with gum in my frozen delight, i’d probably end up swallowing the sticky stuff! LOL

I love bubble gum ice cream, recently I found that the waterpark near where I’m staying sells it and mannnnn it was DELICIOUS… I’ve since tried to find where this stuff is sold, although i know Breyer’s is coming out with what they call the “original” it’s, i believe, not the Original… the Original is blue, the stuff I get at the water park… since I’m leaving I hope someone could fill me in on how the water park can buy Bubble gum ice cream *blue*, and I can’t find any of it anywhere.

Also, Dreyer’s has it on their flavors list, but it isn’t sold anywhere I can find.

I live in Vancouver, BC. Thanks.

Ive always loved bubble gum ice cream, even though I am 28 and always looked for it in stores i ususally only can find it at baskin robins once in a blue moon. Until i found the new dreyes orginal bubble gum ice cream. Its great but i think the bubble gum needs some work. not so chewable as i have had but still love it.

I love this ice cream. I am sitting up at midnight eating some right now. I like it so much that I was looking around on the internet and came across this forum. By the way, I am 39. The bubble gum in the Breyers ice cream is not like real bubble gum. You get the initial feel of bubble gum but it falls apart quickly, extreme bubble gum flavor A+++

I’ve loved bubblegum ice cream all my life. Now I am 22, 8 months pregnant, and praying that my local Wal-Mart has this flavor. There is no BR in my town and the only ice cream shop had a very below par version of this declicacy. Never mess with a pregnant woman needing bubble gum ice cream.

OMG! I love bubble gum ice cream and I am 27 years old. It’s my fav. I do agree though that blue bubble gum ice cream is the best and original kind, but it is very hard to find. I use to be able to get it in San Francisco, but yesterday I was there and went to get it at my little ice cream shop, and was horrified to see that it was now a Subway shop. Sad day to say the least. At least I have the pink kind from Breyers now.

This is the best ice cream ever made im 20 years old and me and my boyfriend cant stop eating this stuff. Just spit the bubble gums to the side of the bowl and eat them last. I wait for the bubble gum ice cream to come into season at Baskin Robins, now i can just get it from the store, i hope they make this flavor for a long time. ;)

I’m a stocker and I first saw this while i was stocking the ice cream and ever since then… i have been eatting it all up!!! And I’m 21!!!

Hi!!
Our names are Nicole and Sara we are 26 year old MUNCHIE MANIACS!! We just love Bubble Yum ice cream!! We always get it when we go out, we were pleasantly surprised to find this at our local grocery store!! The best part is that it is Light!! We are just sitting here at 9:30 at night eating the entire tub of it!! Sara saves the gum and chews it at the end and I just chomp mine up and swallow it!! We must have gained 10 lbs since we found this!!
Thanks Breyers!!
If you feel us holla back!

I LOVE THIS ICE CREAM!!!! I was so sad when I read that it is a “limited edition” flavor!!! I haven’t had bubble gum ice cream since I was a kid (I’m 26 now) so I was very excited when I saw this at the store! I was a little weary, hoping it wouldn’t betray my expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised at how DELICIOUS it is!!!! I brought it to work and let my coworkers try it and they think it’s yummy as well! :)
